DESCRIPTION:
We are working with a dynamic homebuilding and financial services brand looking to add a Lead Data Steward to their Enterprise Data and Analytics team. In this position you will become a go-to expert on the who, why, what, where, and how of our critical data and analytics assets, and will develop a deep understanding of the core business process that drives the data.
Responsibilities:
- Steward data within a hybrid top-down and bottom-up (agile) data governance environment, where adoption can be driven through company-wide standards imposed from above or through the regular workflows of data users.
- Serve as subject matter expert for our critical data and analytics assets and help users find and access the information they need.
- Analyze, understand, and provide mappings for data requests to support the data products team.
- Facilitate standardization of business definitions by identifying key business terms for standardization, working with the appropriate stakeholders to converge on consistent definitions, and associating said definitions with their authoritative sources.
- Collect, triage, and resolve questions and issues with data.
- Define and monitor data quality rules and standards for data and analytics assets and facilitate issue remediation with the appropriate stakeholders and decision makers.
- Develop a deep understanding of the data lifecycle within our core business processes and work with data architecture and modeling teams to establish and refine the enterprise semantic data model.
- Harmonize user-generated data definitions and communicate best practices to the larger organization.
- Establish data validation rules upon creation, identify automation opportunities to reduce manual data entry, and work with architecture and engineering to ensure data is synchronized across systems.
- Manage metadata, including business rules, and operationalize, administer, and train our associates on our enterprise data cataloging solution.
- Facilitate data provisioning process by working with data owners and establishing efficient workflows.
- Ensure that new systems, applications, and data integrations adhere to existing data management practices.
- Work together with Compliance and Security teams to ensure adherence to all data privacy and security policies and procedures.
- Assist with the creation and implementation of data management strategy.
Job Requirements:
- 7+ years’ experience in Data Stewardship, Metadata Management, and/or Enterprise Data Management
- Comfortable with an agile data management approach that focuses on empowerment and quick iterations.
- Expertise with Database Management Systems, SQL, Data Warehouses, and Metadata Management including data lineage, source to target mapping, and business rules and definitions.
- Experience with semantic data modeling and test data management tools is a significant plus.
- Experience in modern data cataloging tools such as Alation and data.world
- Basic proficiency in SQL to be used for data profiling.
- Ability to successfully negotiate and collaborate with others from varying roles, background, and skillset.
- Ability to work with data modelers to inform enterprise data model design with core business entities and data elements.
- Experience with business process management as it relates to data quality is a plus.
- Comfort working in the gray as we define new processes.
- Strong organizational skills along with excellent communication skills with respect to both technical and non-technical audiences at various levels of the organization.
